FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a third-year chemical engineering student with a deep passion for innovation and sustainability. I love diving into complex problems with a critical eye and a hands-on approach—I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. I thrive in environments that push me to connect with others and tackle real challenges. I’m especially excited about the role that chemical engineering can play in building a more sustainable future through technology and community-driven solutions.

FOSSI: What moment or experience sparked your love for STEM?
My love for STEM started with YouTube. I watched Mark Rober and The Backyard Scientist almost every day after school, and their videos inspired me to build things and explore the world around me. Seeing how different materials interacted taught me to problem-solve and think like an engineer. Their creativity sparked my curiosity and showed me that engineering is about thinking both critically and imaginatively.
FOSSI: What did it feel like when you found out you received the FOSSI scholarship?
Winning the FOSSI scholarship was an incredibly empowering moment. It felt like a huge vote of confidence not just in my academic abilities, but in my potential to make an impact in the STEM field. It showed me that organizations genuinely believe in the value of diversity, innovation, and future leadership. Beyond the financial support, it gave me a sense of belonging in a larger community of driven, like-minded students who are all passionate about using science and engineering to create real change.
FOSSI: Who inspires you—and what have they taught you about what’s possible?
There’s two people that inspire me in my life, and they are my mother and father. They taught me to follow my dreams no matter how impossible they may seem, and they showed me that with hard work and determination, I can survive any and all hardships that may form against me.
FOSSI: What kind of impact do you hope to be making ten years from now?
Ten years from now, I
hope to lead innovative projects that drive sustainability in the energy industry. I want to be at the forefront of developing cleaner processes, improving efficiency, and reducing environmental impact through engineered solutions.
FOSSI: What are some surprising or unique facts about you?
I love spending time outdoors, reading a good book, and spending as much time with friends and family as I can.
