Meet Dillon Hudson: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Tuskegee University

FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello! I’m Dillon Hudson and I’m excited to be attending Tuskegee University, where I am studying mechanical engineering. I’m originally from Mobile, Alabama, and I graduated from Baker High School. Football has always been a passion of mine, and I look forward to continuing to play for Tuskegee University’s team.

FOSSI: Why are you passionate about pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field?

From a young age, I showed a natural talent for math and science, just like many members of my family. I was fascinated by how different machines worked and excited by the possibilities they offered. Seeing my curiosity, my parents introduced me to many STEM fields. Among them, engineering captured my interest the most. The idea of designing and building machines and structures matched my goals and passions.

FOSSI: Who is a role model that has influenced you?

My father is my ultimate role model, showing hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering love. He worked tirelessly to provide for our family while teaching me important qualities needed to face life’s challenges. Through his guidance, I learned resilience, responsibility, and perseverance. Although sometimes stern, his tough love was always paired with strong support and belief in my abilities. His influence goes beyond words, shaping who I am and inspiring me to strive for excellence while leading with compassion and integrity. I am forever grateful for his presence in my life and the lasting impact he continues to have on me.

FOSSI: Share a few fun facts about yourself.

  • I love connecting with children and did so as an ambassador for Crittenton Youth Services.
  •  I used to play the trumpet and was actually pretty good at it.
  •  My two favorite hobbies are fishing and hiking.
  • I have played football since I was four years old.
