Jada Horton, a junior at Howard University majoring in computer information systems, had her very first internship this summer with PPG. The PPG Foundation has supported FOSSI since its launch in 2020.
Jada’s internship responsibilities
As part of the IT Frontline Industrial Coatings Team, Horton had the opportunity to visit some of PPG’s research labs and also worked on different assignments such as collecting business requirements for an upcoming project and compiling them into Azure DevOps. An introduction to Power BI allowed her to expand her knowledge as a business analyst.
Most of her internship was remote in Atlanta, GA, but the last week she traveled to PPG headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, for a final presentation. While in Pittsburgh, she met other interns, celebrated National Intern Day at a local restaurant, and attended a Pirates game at PNC Park.
Horton reflects on her internship with PPG
Summing up her experience Horton commented, “Knowing that the projects I worked on were utilized within PPG’s teams after my departure and were beneficial to the company was important to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my career.”
Remarks from PPG
