FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in the state capitol of Louisiana, Baton Rouge. I am the oldest of three boys 
and I am a graduating senior of Madison Preparatory Academy. I have a 3.36 GPA. I am member of Beta Club, member of National Honor Society and a member of National Society of High School Scholars. In addition, I am a member of the school band and section leader for the trombones. Outside of school, I spend time with the Young People Department at my church, where I am a member of the choir, youth leader assistant, and Eagle Scout member. I also volunteer in my spare time at the Baton Rouge Food Bank and a local black owned pharmacy. I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging with my friends in my spare time, drawing and listening to music.
FOSSI: Why is receiving the FOSSI scholarship important for you?
The FOSSI scholarship will allow me to attend college with little to no debt. It takes the burden off my mother who is currenlty battling an autoimmune disease that requires chemotherapy. This allows her to focus on herself and not worry about how my education will be funded. This scholarship will allow me to pursue my dreams of becoming an mechanical engineer.
FOSSI: Who is a role model that has influenced you?
My mom is my role model. Even though she is sick, she still fights for us. I never see her complain. She just makes it happen for us. She is currently pursing her doctoral degree in hopes that when she is done with treatment, she can return the workforce and continue her work in education.
FOSSI: Fast forward – where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years, I will have completed my master's in mechanical engineering and relocated to Texas to work for a local engineering firm. My dream is to buy my mom a house again since we lost ours due the 2016 Louisiana floods and also my mom's illness which prevented her from being able to work. I am looking forward to focusing on my career, starting a family and giving back to my community.
