
Nicholas Glover is a driven, Potomac Falls High School graduate from Sterling, Virginia. He completed dual enrollment courses at Northern Virginia Community College and graduated on June 18th, 2024. His time during high school has helped him grow into a mature yet liberated young adult, some could say more quickly than others. Throughout his academic tenure at Potomac Falls High School, Nicholas has consistently showcased his intellectual ability, maintaining a commendable GPA of 3.65+.
His academic achievements go beyond the typical, as he has actively pursued and successfully completed various honor courses, including English, Research Earth Science, and African American History. Furthermore, he has undertaken the challenge of Advanced Placement (AP) courses such as English Language and Computer Science Principles, attesting to his commitment to academic rigor. His passion lies in comprehending the intricate processes of engineering—innovating, designing, analyzing, and constructing—with a broader goal of deriving income from these pursuits. This long-term vision fuels his commitment to higher education, with plans to attend college, secure mentorship, and establish lasting partnerships within the engineering domain.
FOSSI: Why are you passionate about pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field?
I genuinely find interest in understanding how things work and come to be. I also love using my head to look for solutions to a challenging problem. I'm passionate about pursuing a degree in a STEM field because of my strong interest in science and math, combined with my drive to solve problems. I also enjoy using my hands to build and create. I know that my way of thinking and processing is unique, and I want to use my knowledge and understanding to create a more positive life.
FOSSI: Fast forward – where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years, I see myself driving innovation and sustainability by using my mechanical engineering skills to invent solutions that improve the world and the environment. I plan to build bridges to provide the world with a new hope for a better life. I really would like to apply my knowledge to something that will improve our daily lives. I see myself traveling the world and meeting new people to help me with my journey of figuring out how to do so. With this in mind, I plan to be proactive in implementing my strong morals into every action I take.
FOSSI: Share a few fun facts about yourself.
- I was the captain of the varsity football team.
- In 2023, I was awarded the 'Player with the Most Grit' honor, due to my continuous perseverance on the field.
- I actively contribute to various domains as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, the Black Student Union, the National Honors Society, the Key Club, and, the Kappa League of Dulles-Leesburg, VA.
- I love all types of puzzles.
- I can sing, dance, and play multiple instruments.
