FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a high school graduate, class of 2024, with an associate degree in science. I maintained a 4.0 GPA
throughout the school year while taking challenging dual-credit courses. In addition, I was a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, and Captain of the Varsity Softball team. I worked closely with peers and teachers around the school to organize events such as pep rallies, homecoming, prom, and community events. I also tutored local elementary students. As a member of my high school softball team in Lancaster, TX, and a member of the Texas Rangers youth team, I developed teamwork skills, gained confidence, and improved my leadership skills.
The FOSSI scholarship connects recipients to a valuable network of supportive peers, mentors, and resources, empowering them to navigate the challenges of pursuing a STEM degree and career.
Outside of school, I was a member of the Upward Bound Trio program where I took STEM classes which led me to develop a passion for STEM. I am currently attending North Carolina A&T State University as a mechanical engineering major, and computer science minor. In my free time, I like to sew pillowcases, bags, clothes, and I also like to repair things around the house. I am a dedicated, well-rounded student who strives for excellence in all endeavors.

Receiving the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) scholarship is a life-changing opportunity for
underrepresented students to pursue higher education and build successful careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The scholarship provides essential financial support, covering expenses like tuition, books, and housing, making it possible for students to attend college who might not otherwise have the means. Beyond the monetary assistance, being selected for this competitive scholarship offers validation, encouragement, and a sense of belief in the student's potential. The FOSSI scholarship connects recipients to a valuable network of supportive peers, mentors, and resources, empowering them to navigate the challenges of pursuing a STEM degree and career.
