In May, the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) headed to Capitol Hill for their annual Washington Fly-In, and ACD FOSSI scholar Sarah Lokenauth had a front row seat!
ACD Chief Operating Office Lucinda Schofer commented, “We were so thrilled Sarah could join us for this annual event, where nearly 100 ACD members from over 35–40 companies fly into town to meet with their congressional representatives to talk about their companies and give input on various legislative issues.”
Sarah looks back on her experience on Capitol Hill
A rising sophomore at Spelman College, Sarah had the opportunity to shadow ACD's CEO, Eric Byer, and participated in almost a dozen meetings with senators, representatives, and congressional staff. “A highlight was to see how the house and senate operate, and it was really exciting because I had never been on Capitol Hill,” said Sarah, adding, “The partnership with ACD and FOSSI has been incredible and really helped expose me to so many different career paths and options, some of which I didn't even know existed or were an option.”
Closing remarks from ACD’s COO
“We look forward to Sarah joining us again in future years along with other FOSSI scholars, said Schoefer. “It’s important to understand how important it is for businesses to communicate with their representatives and help them know the value they bring to the local community.”
