FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Ethan Johnson and I am a graduate of the Class of 2023 at Shadow Creek High School located in Pearland, Texas. I am the only son of Tharon and Nakita Johnson. Included in my many titles
such as son and brother, are ones that brought me joy throughout high school. I was a basketball player for the Sharks (2019-2023), Tuba section Leader of the Marching Band (2019-2022), National Honor Society member (2021-2023) and Morning Announcer (2021-2023).
Outside of high school, I was involved in the youth ministry at my church, Abundant Life Center, and several community service projects such as the Southfork Neighborhood beautification project and the Houston Food Bank.
FOSSI: Who is a role model that has influenced you?
I believe charisma is a quality that a good leader is born with. I admire the ability to charm and earn merit with others using your voice and actions. One of the best examples of this leadership quality was found in the late activist W.E.B Du Bois. Du Bois sought for a complete rewrite of the system rather than add-ons and/or exceptions to make other Americans feel accepted. I also possess the qualities of charisma and courage. Du Bois’ actions earned him loyalty and I plan to follow in his footsteps and become someone whom others can support and see themselves in. Earning my engineering degree from Tuskegee University will complement the leadership qualities that I have and admire, and choose to emulate. Without love and devotion there can be no respect.
FOSSI: Share a few fun facts about yourself.
- I like anime.
- I have read/watched the whole One Piece series, which is over 1K episodes.
- I really like basketball. My favorite player is Kawhi Leonard and it's hard not to like his game.
- I love movies. All types of movies - favorites include The Truman Show and Into the Spider Verse series.
- My favorite food is pizza.
