FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hello! My name is Asia Jones and I’m 18 years old. I’m from Baltimore, Maryland and I attended Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts for its Theater Arts program. I will be attending Norfolk State University this fall while majoring in chemistry! Some of my hobbies include theater, exercising, and arts and crafts. I enjoy going on nice walks, visiting museums, watching horror movies, and trying new desserts.
I am most excited to get a taste of the HBCU experience this fall. My goal is to become a research chemist, and I hope to be someone's inspiration one day!
FOSSI: Who is a role model that has influenced you?
I would have to say that my grandma has inspired me the most. She always showed me that “where there's a will, there's a way”. If she wanted to do something, she never dwelled on it or doubted if it was possible; She just did it. She was a social butterfly which helped me a lot with my shyness in new environments. To this day, I look up to her and I hope that one day I could be as great as her.
FOSSI: Fast forward – where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years, I see myself working at a research lab with amazing coworkers. By that time, I would have already received a doctorate and bachelor's degree in chemistry, and maybe even a bachelors in physics! I would be working on an issue that could help the world become a better place.
FOSSI: Share a few fun facts about yourself.
- I practiced multiple genres of dance when I was younger.
- I plan to become a volunteer firefighter in the future.
- One of the first foods I've ever cooked on my own were pancakes.
- It took me a year to master cooking!
