Meet Ambrose Kee: 2023 FOSSI Scholar Attending North Carolina A&T State University

November 7, 2023

FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself:

My name is Ambrose Kee and I am a rising freshman at North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University. I was born in Houston, Texas, but I have moved around a few times since then. I now live in Cherryville, NC and I graduated from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. I am looking forward to beginning my next chapter at North Carolina A&T State University where I will be studying Agricultural Business. During my time at NC A&T, I plan to continue pursuing my passions of music, fitness and environmental science.

FOSSI: Why are you passionate about pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field?

As a young black man, I see the world through a unique lens, one that has been shaped by my experiences growing up in a community that has been disproportionately affected by environmental degradation. I've witnessed, firsthand, the devastating impacts of pollution on the health of my family and neighbors. As I begin my studies in environmental science, I'm driven by a sense of purpose and desire to use my knowledge and skills to create a more sustainable future for all people.

I will build relationships with others dedicated to this same goal of environmental justice, and gain the skills needed to work collaboratively towards goals like reducing the rate of asthma in marginalized communities. I'm filled with hope, knowing that there are many others who share my passion and determination to create a more sustainable and just world. I am Ambrose Kee and I am THAT man.
