FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hey! My name is Amira Hamilton, I attended East Kentwood High School and I absolutely adored my community. I am so excited to go down south to learn more, meet new people, and have new experiences!
I take comfort in being an active community leader. Throughout my senior year, I held several leadership positions and broadened my communal outreach, landing to being featured on our local news and having the opportunity to meet Michigan's U.S. representative, Hillary Scholten, twice!
I am so excited to be a part of the solution and harness the ability to utilize math and science to create effective and transformative change.
Why are you passionate about pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field?
My passion for STEM is often intertwined with a desire to make a positive global impact. I've always had a strong desire to serve others around me and I feel I can pursue this passion most effectively through STEM. From tackling climate change to advancing healthcare and improving quality of life, the potential to contribute to a better future motivates me to pursue STEM. I am so excited to be a part of the solution and harness the ability to utilize math and science to create effective and transformative change.
