Meet Colin Saveat: 2022 FOSSI Scholar Attending Prairie View A&M University

August 15, 2022

FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am the son of Juaune Saveat and Marquis Saveat.  I am a 2022 graduate of West Brook Senior High School. Growing up in Beaumont, Texas, I spent most of my extra time participating in sports.  Although I participated in several sports as a kid, baseball is where my heart is. Beginning in elementary school, spring baseball was always the highlight of each school year.  My summers were always spent traveling across my great state (and others), on select teams, playing the game I love.  Throughout high school, I earned several awards such as Offensive Player of the Year,  First Team All District, and Academic All State. To relax, I enjoy working out and watching sports on television.  I am excited to be headed to "The Hill",  Prairie A&M University, to start the next chapter of my life studying Engineering.

Who is a role model that has influenced you?

Fortunately, I've had many people positively impact my life through the years and on many different levels. I have been coached, taught and encouraged concerning sports, academics and my relationship with Jesus Christ, my entire life. I am grateful for all of the people that pour into me.

Out of all my "mentors," my godfather, Dr. Christopher Williams, DDS,  is the role model that has influenced me the most with speaking the least amount of words.  He moves quietly.  I like that about him.  I like watching him.  He is smart, kind and successful.  There is so much about him that I aspire to be.  I am proud to be attending his alma mater, Prairie View A&M University.
